Here's my old tractor.

Ebro Tractor

They're becoming a collector's item in New Zealand, with not many left in service. I bought mine in 1998, in an uncared for state, but reasonably original. It had only done 800 hours, and the back tyres are original. You can see how little wear they've got. It's from about 1972 or so. It had a fair bit of rust, and quite a few things not working.  I've repaired a lot of it, and it looks better than this photo now, although the rust is on a resurgence.  As always, giving me trouble are the lift hydraulics. They won't usually lift very strongly, and never stay in the postition you set them too.  I suspect one of the spools or springs or galleries in the control block under the seat is of poor design, as many people have the same problem. It's the most common question from 350 owners.

In search of answers, I've tracked down the original Motor Iberica manuals, both the workshop service manual, and the master parts manual.  I borrowed them from the former importer, who has now closed up shop. I've had them copied at the local copy shop, so I've got permanent copies.

Title page

A number of people from around the world have been in contact with me, via email, having picked up an Ebro (or McKee as they are in North America), usually fairly cheap as they're a bit unusual.  You can download individual pages or the whole manual here and print them yourself.

I'm trying to collect up spares & knowledge before they disappear too. I have some spares, remanants of the importers stock. None of the common parts, he sold out of them years ago.

If you're not sure you've got an Ebro, here's a few identifying details and a bit of a general description.
The two models in this range are the 350 and the 460. Other ranges are 6XXX and are completly different. The 350 & 460 are both very similar, and many parts are interchangeable. The 460 is a bit larger all round, but same details & shape.I'm told the tractors are a bit of a cross between a Massey Fergussen & a Fordson Major in their inards.  However to me they look more like a Ford 4000 in overall appearance. They are usually dark blue, close to a Ford blue. The white body stripe is fluoro (reflectorised) white. Engine is a Perkins three cylinder for the 350, and four cylinder for the 460.  The 350 is very short, and you sit quite high above the ground. It's happy to lift it's nose on demand, especially mowing uphill with a heavy mower.

Logo

The Ebro logo is a sort of an H in an oval, very similar to the Honda Cars logo. You'll find it stamped or cast into most of the major castings. Gearing is 4 speed & reverse, high and low range (maked C & R, which I think of as Crawl and Run to remember them). The roll over bar you can see in the above photo is a New Zealand made Belcher brand one, so may not be universal world wide. The air cleaner cyclone filter and the exhaust are also not original in the above photo, but everything else is standard.
